Under federal and state guidelines, children may be eligible for special education services and evaluations if their needs fall within one of the following disability

Partial hearing loss that impacts learning but does not meet the criteria for deafness.
Significantly below-average intellectual functioning paired with challenges in everyday adaptive skills, such as communication or self-care.
A combination of disabilities that together create complex learning needs and cannot be addressed under a single eligibility category.
Physical conditions that affect movement or mobility, such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, or limb differences.
Medical conditions, like ADHD, epilepsy, diabetes, Tourette syndrome, or heart conditions, that impact alertness, energy, or focus in the school environment.
Challenges with specific academic skills such as reading, writing, math, listening, or speaking, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia.
Difficulties with speech or language development, including articulation issues, stuttering, or challenges with understanding or using language.
An acquired brain injury that affects thinking, memory, attention, reasoning, or learning abilities.
A visual condition, including blindness, that continues to affect educational performance even with corrective lenses or treatment.

A child may qualify if they have a disability that falls under one of the 13 federal categories and that disability adversely affects their educational performance. An evaluation is the first step to determine eligibility.
We offer both in-person and virtual services depending on the student’s needs and your school or family’s preferences. Many of our services can be delivered effectively through telehealth.
An IEP provides specialized instruction and related services under IDEA, while a 504 Plan provides accommodations for students with isabilities under Section 504. Both protect student rights but serve different purposes.
Once an assessment is complete and an IEP is in place, services can typically begin within 2-4 weeks depending on scheduling and provider availability.
