About Imprint Education Consulting

Hi, I’m Marisa.

I’m the daughter of a school principal, so schools have been part of my story for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I saw how much one educator can shape a child’s life, and how much it matters when school and home are on the same side.

Before I became a school psychologist, I worked as an in-home ABA therapist and sat beside families at IEP meetings. I watched them dread the school psychologist, and I remember thinking, maybe I could be the one parents actually like. That thought became a calling.

My career began in Iowa in 2011 on a close three-person team, with plenty of training and support. When I moved back home to California, I suddenly had no team at all. I was a newer psych without a mentor, blindly calling other psychologists in my district just to ask questions. Then came a year of late nights and working weekends just to keep up with my caseload. I wished someone would step in during those seasons, so in 2015 I built the team I had needed.

Imprint Education Consulting is both a reflection of where I come from and who I’ve grown into. The name comes from the work itself. We aren’t part of a student’s whole life. We show up at key moments along their path, and each time we get to leave a small imprint that helps shape where they go next.

Today I’m a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP #3486) with close to 15 years in the field. For me, Imprint isn’t just a business. It’s a promise that no family has to feel unheard and no school team has to carry a heavy season alone.

Outside of work, I’m a caregiver for my dad, which has given me a deeper understanding of what families go through when they advocate for someone they love. I take strength classes, see friends and spend time with my mini goldendoodle, Ginger, who would rather sit in my lap than go on a walk.

Every student, family and school team we work with becomes part of Imprint’s story, and I’m grateful for each one.
